The trailer for ‘The Idea of You,’ starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, has set a viewing record. It’s set to premiere on Prime Video on May 2nd.

We still have to wait a little over a month for its premiere, but the new movie starring Anne Hathaway is already stirring passions among viewers even before its debut. A romantic comedy titled ‘The Idea of You’ is set to premiere on Prime Video on May 2nd, 2024.

Directed by Michael Showalter, the film is based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee and, in addition to Hathaway, stars young actor Nicholas Galitzine. Galitzine has also been the talk of the town recently for starring alongside Julianne Moore in the period series ‘Mary & George,’ which has already been hailed as one of the best series of the year.

The film was announced in the summer of 2022, but the release of its first official trailer has made it clear that people are eager to see it. In fact, even before its premiere, it has already set a record: its trailer has been viewed over 125 million times worldwide, more than any other trailer for a streaming movie. Until now, Netflix held the record with the film ‘Agent Stone’ starring Gal Gadot, as well as the anticipated ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.’

In ‘The Idea of You,’ the Oscar-winning actress plays Solène, a 40-year-old single mother who, after attending Coachella with her teenage daughter, begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the singer of August Moon (Galitzine), the planet’s most popular boy band.

Thus, a trip that was supposed to be a different experience with her daughter ends up being unforgettable for another reason, completely marking Solène’s life.

However, the popularity of Hathaway and rising star Nicholas Galitzine isn’t the only thing behind the public’s eagerness for the movie. Passion also has to do with none other than Harry Styles. The author of the novel, Robinne Lee, revealed that she was inspired by the singer Harry Styles (then a member of the English boy band One Direction) for her story: “I was browsing the internet when I came across a young man I didn’t know and had never heard of. He was so physically perfect that it took me by surprise. It was like… Art. I spent hours researching him, trying to find out who he was. I discovered that he often dated older women. The seed was planted,” she explained in an interview.

Fans of Harry Styles (with 48 million subscribers on Instagram) quickly reacted to the trailer’s release, undoubtedly contributing to the record.

But we still have to wait a bit before discovering ‘The Idea of You,’ which will not premiere until May 2nd on Prime Video.
