5 Remarkable Female Villains in Bollywood

by Vibhuti Gupta, Wednesday, April 11, 2018

There was a time when actresses only portrayed the role of a daughter, a wife and a mother, they feared to portray negative roles on-screen as they thought it might cost them their fans. Alas! The tables have turned, and actresses are taking up more women-centric and bold characters, they wish to experiment with grey characters to prove their acting skills, versatility and potential.

And they do. Now actresses do not portray themselves as an 'abla naari', however that doesn't mean that they are not traditional in their own ways. Giving this change, new limits, we have a list of strong female actresses who have portrayed vindictive and manipulative characters on screen, with utmost perfection.

Here we go!

In the 1960s, Nadira was known to take up harsh and stern roles, which helped her make her mark as a strong performer. Though she later took on motherly roles later in her career, it was in her younger years that she portrayed the temptress or villain towards other female co-stars.

Kangana Ranaut

In Krrish 3, Kangana played the role of a shape shifting villain. Despite being opposite to the heartthrob Hrithik Roshan, Kangana's performance was spectacular. Looking immaculate in her skin-tight body suits, Kangana was surely an attractive villain.

Priyanka Chopra

Aitraaz, was surely a big milestone in PeeCee's career because the way she played her negative character, turned the glamour doll for directors in to a threat to all the top Bollywood actresses.

Tabu has always been an epic performer and very subtle in her acting skills, but the negative role of Nimmi in Maqbool was, as if the role was meant for her only!

Urmila Matondkar

Who can forget Urmila's role in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya? The obsessive lover. She fully justified the role of a stubborn girl who ends up being an over obsessive lover and tries to kill herself and everyone else.

So who is your favorite?
