No matter how big of a tech-junkie you are, there are very less chances that you have acknowledged the fact that every iPhone ever-displayed in Apple's advertisement shows time 9:41 am. Surprised? Well, you should be.

This was a part of Steve Jobs sale tactics which clearly worked. But why only 9:41 am, why not some other time? The answer to this query lies in the story of first-ever iPhone which was revealed by Jobs himself.

The tradition of Apple commercials in which iPhones and iPads show time 9:41 am began during the 2007 Macworld Conference & Expo, when Jobs was going to announce the official launch of the iPhone in a keynote presentation.

During the rehearsals for the keynote presentation, Jobs calculated that the slide revealing iPhone will telecast around 9:41 and the basic idea behind this time was to sync their iPhone's time with real-time. In order to show the real-time on the iPhones, Steve instructed his advertising team to prepare it with the device showing 9:41 AM.

Soon, Steve unveiled the first-ever iPhone and began the conference by saying, "This is a day I've been looking forward to for two and a half years." His calculations were so accurate that the first-ever iPhone was introduced at the exact time as decided by Jobs.

Senior VP of iPhone software, Scott Forstall once mentioned, "We design the product launch keynotes so that the big reveal of the product happens around 40 minutes into the presentation. When the big image of the product appears on screen, we want the time shown to be close to the actual time on the audience's watches. But we know we won't hit 40 minutes exactly. And for the iPhone, we made it 42 minutes. It turned out we were pretty accurate with that estimate, so for the iPad, we made it 41 minutes. And there you areā€”the secret of the magic time."

And since then the tradition of showing time of 9:41 in iPhones and iPads began. Stay tuned for more technology related updates
