Madhuri Dixit: The epitome of everything groovy and fabulous!

by Vibhuti Gupta, Tuesday, May 15, 2018

There's no match to the Dhak Dhak Girl of Bollywood, who manages to outshine herself with every new performance. Madhuri Dixit, who ruled everyone's heart during 80s, has given us all phenomenal performances that keep her fans hooked up her even today!

While she made her Bollywood debut with 1984’s Abodh, she went pretty much unnoticed until 1988's blockbuster Tehzaab. After her glimmering performance in the Ek Do Teen song, there was no looking back for Madhuri. Moreover, the Filmfare category of Best Choreographer was introduced after this song and Saroj Khan won the first ever Filmfare for the song.

Acknowledging her milestone, Madhuri once said, "The Ek Do Teen song turned the tables for me. Every producer wanted me to do a dance number in his or her film. We were shooting a song for Tridev. Sonam was a bigger star and so, she was made to stand in the centre. But as soon as Ek Do Teen became a hit, the producer changed our positions. I was in the centre.”

After Indra Kumar's Beta (1992) where we saw her as the splendid Dhak Dhak girl opened new gates for her fans and herself!

With 1994’s Chane Ke Khet Mein, Madhuri Dixit gave Bollywood another one of those numbers that made every 90s kid stand in front of their TV sets trying to duplicate her hook steps. And the same year, she mesmerised us with Didi Tera Dewar Deewana from Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! which remains to be THE wedding song!

There was no chance of a Madhuri song not being loved by the audience. Always giving in something unique, she elevated her game with 1995's Yaarana where she performed the amazing Mera Piya Ghar Aaya sequence.

And she proved it again with her drool-worthy moonwalk in Pukar’s Kay Sera Sera (2000), which gave all her contemporaries a run of their money!

Madhuri proved her mettle that she can not only nail the traditional Bollywood style dancing but brilliantly do whatever comes her way. So is the case when she shared the screen space with Ranbir Kapoor in Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani's Ghagra (2013) song.

There's no way anyone can ever top her game. She has her own way of getting into the skin of her character, that is why we don't see Madhuri the actor performing, but rather the Mohinis, the Chandramukhis and the Nishas dancing their hearts out. Here’s wishing you a very happy birthday!
