Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam as we Indians believe means that ‘The world is one family’. India has always extended its hand whenever needed by the other countries in the world. India is a superpower and the highest recipient of multilateral development aid.
Apart from going out of the way to help other countries, most of the countries which have seen a hike in development assistance have also seen a visit by our PM, Mr Narendra Modi. Development Aid to foreign countries not only serves economic objectives but also act as a strategic tool.
These are the few instances where India has pushed its limits to reach out to other countries for providing aid-
In the African region, the Indian Private and Public sector companies along with NGOs are extending healthcare cooperation and providing training health experts to fight fatal diseases like TB, HIV/AIDS and Malaria.
India provided milk and food supplies through World Food Programme to Iraqi school children and refugees in Syria.
Central Public Works Department (CPWD), India’s government-owned construction agency helped in building Afghanistan's Parliament building. For this, India provided Rs.710 crore aid.
India has around 7,000 of its security personnel deployed on various missions across the world making it the third highest contributor to UN peacekeeping missions. India has participated in about 50 out of 71 UN peacekeeping operations including 13 of the current 16 missions.
India launched a programme for Nepal earthquake victims named Maitri in 2015. It was a relief operation planned with the help of Indian armed forces.
This is not all; India has set various examples to showcase its love for the fellow countries. India will keep supporting and joining hands with the other countries to make the world a better place to live in. Stay tuned for WTF updates.
