A little appreciation from mentors can do wonders for adolescents

Adolescence is the age when people tend to face various issues. Be it physical or mental issues, there are many of them. They have a lot of expectations attached to them which somewhere put adolescents under pressure resulting in delinquent behaviour. There are many other reasons for this destructive behaviour of the adolescents.

Mentors can be of a big help to the adolescents to get over their delinquent behaviour

At this stage, youngsters do need someone to guide them towards the right path and be a support system to them. They do tend to get affected by peer pressure which is much evident in their behaviour and activities. Adolescence is one of the most difficult stages of life as it decided which turn your life is going to take, the right one or the wrong one.

This is that moment when they need a lot of motivation and appreciation from their mentors, from the ones they look up to. A sense of belongingness and a secure feeling might really help them to overcome their insecurities and agitations. No one is born to behave delinquent, it is the atmosphere and sufferings of the person which makes him do so.

All these adolescents need during this time is proper guidance and support from mentors like teachers or coaches. This is what our experts have to say about the issue- "If you are made to feel useful and important to others, especially in this case by a non-kin and education-based mentor, then you are more likely to have a reduction in delinquency and dangerous behaviour. Making them feel appreciated and providing a sense of belonging for them at this crucial point in their adolescence can change those trajectories”.
