We all cherish nature’s fruits throughout our lives. There is nothing in the world as healthy as the natural fruits and vegetables. You might have heard the phrase, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.

Not everything that shines is gold!

Well! Not all apples keep doctors away, some may force you into a hospital near many doctors. Yes, we are talking about some of the most dangerous fruits in this world.

Here are some wild fruits which are not only delicious but dangerous as well:

Ackee Fruit

Jamaica’s national fruit, Ackee is also one of the most dangerous fruit in this world. This fruit, if unripened contains a poison known as hypoglycin. Therefore, if not prepared and eaten properly, Ackee may lead to a disease known as Jamaican Vomiting Sickness. Ackee if consumed in excess may lead to hypoglycemia or death.

European Spindle

Commonly found alongside the road throughout the Europe, European spindle is a tree that yields pink pods which bursts open into white seeds with an orange coat. These pink pods with an orange colored seed often look tempting to the ones who are not familiar with this tree. However, when consumed, causes vomiting, dizziness, hallucinations, kidney failure, and death.


If not consumed right, these wild berries may kill you and they are indeed, better avoided than finding a healthier way of consumption. Elderberries contain a cyanide-inducing glycoside in the roots, stems, leaves, and seeds and hence, most of this plant is not to be consumed. However, once cooked, these berries can be used for preparing syrups, jams, pies and can even be transformed into wine.

Yellow Star Fruit

If you know what a star fruit is and have eaten it, then you must know that they are pretty delicious as well. Star fruit is also low on calories and high in fiber which makes it healthy to some extent. Very few people might know that star fruit also has high amounts of oxalates in it which makes it a no-go for people with a weak pair of kidneys. But is it actually dangerous? Yes, eating too much star fruit can lead to kidney damage, seizures, and even death.


Found on the cost of Florida and throughout the Caribbean, Manchineel is also known as the ‘little apples of death’. However, not only the fruit of this plant but every part of this plant can mess up with your health real bad. The pant of this Manchineel is so poisonous tree is so nasty, that the Guinness Book of World Records declared it to be the most dangerous tree on the planet. Even a single bite of this fruit may damage your digestive tract instantly.
