Inevitable facts from Rishi Kapoor’s uncensored auto Khullam Khulla

by TIMC Saturday, February 18, 2017

With Khullam Khulla, Rishi Kapoor could not ask for a better title to his autobiography. The 64-year-old veteran actor has so much to offer from his life accounts in the unabashed book.
Rishi’s unabashed and rightly suffixed autobiography has so much to offer in terms of honesty and sheer entertainment.
Rishi is known for his brutal honesty and straightforwardness in Bollywood. Following its recent release, even readers are now vouching for a fact that there is not an ounce of artificiality or fakeness. Let us drive down some of the many interesting excerpts from Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored with Meena Iyer.

His father’s extra-marital affairs

Inevitable facts from Rishi Kapoor’s uncensored auto Khullam Khulla Rishi honestly addressed the issues concerning Raj Kapoor’s involvement with other women in the industry. He writes, “I was very young when my father had an affair with Nargis ji, and so was not affected by it. I do remember moving into the Natraj Hotel on Marine Drive with my mom during the time Papa was involved with Vyjayanthimala.”

How his ring landed on Dimple Khanna’s finger

Inevitable facts from Rishi Kapoor’s uncensored auto Khullam Khulla This was Rishi’s one surprising clarification no one saw  coming. Referring to his first girlfriend Yasmin Mehta, Rishi writes, “Yasmin had presented me with a ring when we were dating... When we were filming Bobby, Dimple would pull it off and wear it on her finger. She ended up keeping it.” “The truth is that I was never in love with Dimple or even infatuated with her,” Rishi quipped.

A “lingering issue” with Amitabh Bachchan

Inevitable facts from Rishi Kapoor’s uncensored auto Khullam Khulla The actor came in defence of his contemporary actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna. Although they may have been smaller stars, Rishi asserts “we were not lesser” actors. “To go back to Amitabh, I must confess here is still a lingering issue I have with Amitabh Bachchan,” Rishi writes. “He has never given due credit to the actors who have worked with him.”

Tight-fitting memory of O Hansini For the shooting of particular song from 1974 movie Zehreela Insaan, Rishi had swaggered perfect moves in a tight fitting pants with flares. Only later he found out that they were styled for women. “The dress man pointed out that its zip was to the side and not in front. I had made a fashion boo-boo, picking up a ladies' trouser,” he writes.

Buying Best Actor award for Bobby

Inevitable facts from Rishi Kapoor’s uncensored auto Khullam KhullaI am ashamed to say it, but I actually 'bought' that award. I was so naive,” he recalls in the book. “There was this PRO, Taraknath Gandhi, who said to me, 'Sir, tees hazaar de do, toh aap ko main award dila doonga.' I am not the manipulative sort but I admit that I gave him the money without thinking,” he added. To date, Rishi’s autobiography could be one of the most heartfelt accounts to have come easily from a Bollywood celebrity. The Kapoor and Sons star is certainly in the right business of calling a spade a spade in khullam khulla style.
