`Padmavati` vandals attack again, break Chittorgarh Fort mirrors

by TIMC Monday, March 06, 2017

Looks like the not-so-amicable accounts regarding the shoot of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is not over yet. Vandals recently entered Padmini Mahal in Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan and broke the royal mirrors.
Padmini Mahal’s all three mirrors in the palace were broken.
A witness stated that four to five persons entered the palace, broke the mirrors into pieces and ran away. This happened early evening at aroung 4:45 PM. Now, caste-based organisation Shree Rajput Karni Sena has claimed responsibility of the act. `Padmavati` vandals attack again, break Chittorgarh Fort mirrors The mirrors were famous for reflecting the image of Rajput queen Rani Padmavati for Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji's viewing. A police officer told IANS, “All the three mirrors were broken on Sunday evening in the palace by some miscreants.” He added that an investigation was on. Last month, the same group had created commotion claiming that the period drama was a distortion of historical facts. For the same reason reason, they had attacked Bhansali on the set, stalling the shoot of Padmavati. Meanwhile, representative of Sree Rajput Karni Sena defended in a statement. “We had given an ultimatum to this effect 15 days back. But in spite of our demands, mirrors were not removed,” the activist said. Stories claim that around the 13th century, Khilji would enjoy the queen's reflection from the mirror in the palace. Whereas the Karni Sena opposed saying mirrors came about only years after the event. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
